How to make a large parrot cage

Drawings and step-by-step instructions for collection

Make a drawing of the future bird house. In doing so, consider the size of the parrot, demeanor, favorite activities and your own preferences.

Convenient and comfortable cells can be looked after on the Internet, and already on them create your own version.

Remember! Metal elements must be processed so that later the bird does not hurt about them, wooden ones are polished.

  • According to the modular principle, the floor, side walls and roof are assembled separately first. Then they are attached to each other.
  • The pallet of four bars is cut first, then the bottom itself, preferably from a chipboard sheet. It is the basis of the cell. Parts are attached to each other with nails or screws strictly outward.
  • Metal corners are already attached to the bottom in size, to which the adjacent side walls from the mesh are screwed in the future.
  • When the frame is ready, work is done to fix the roof. It is recommended to make it from a solid material, to which you can attach accessories for your pet. a swing, bells, a mirror, etc.
  • The back wall is mainly made of galvanized iron.
  • It is also recommended, to facilitate the movement of the house, “put” it on a castor.
  • Don’t forget the opening for the hinged door.
  • Composite elements are assembled into one common structure.

Screwdriver or screwdriver

A Phillips screwdriver is usually used. You can also use a screwdriver, which is easier and faster to work with.

Optimal size and shape

The dimensions of the structure depend on the type and number of parrots that will live there. It should be such that the pet can freely flip from place to place without touching the rods. For different breeds of birds, there are minimum allowable dwelling sizes.

Optimal dimensions for the cage

A large cage of at least 100x100x170cm will be required to keep a macaw, cockatoo or Amazon. Also, not very small housing is needed for a pair of medium-sized parrots or a flock of tiny birds. The minimum proportions are considered to be 30x40x50 cm, suitable for living wavy or lovebird.

The best cage shape is rectangular with a flat roof surface, as there are rocks that like to run along the walls and ceiling of their house. In addition, a platform is formed on the surface of the cage where a play stand can be placed.

If the owner likes the round configuration, it must be borne in mind that the pet in such a home loses its bearings. He will not feel safe, as instinct forces him to hide in a corner in case of a threat.

Strong steel wire will do. It should not be galvanized or painted, otherwise the pet may be poisoned. The thickness depends on the type of bird, the strength of its beak. For small breeds, a diameter of 1.5-2 mm is suitable, and for macaws, cockatoo. 5-5.5 mm.

Metal scissors

Necessary for cutting metal mesh or wire to the dimensions of the structure.

Required materials and tools

The same requirements are imposed on its thickness as for the wire. The size of the holes should not be larger than the bird’s head so that the pet does not get stuck or injured.

Do-it-yourself parrot cage

For a feathered pet, the cage is his small apartment. She needs to be comfortable so that she wants to return to her home after a warm-up flight around the room. A sense of security is also important. This is possible when the cage is in the right place and equipped with everything you need.

Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

Making a home for a feathered one is within the power of a master without experience. Step-by-step instructions provide for the manufacture of a pallet, frame, doors, perches and assembly of all structures:

  • The pallet is made first, all other structural elements will be repelled from it. A slab is cut out with a hacksaw and four bars of the desired size, which are nailed along the perimeter of the pallet. Nails are driven strictly outward. so that they do not stick out inside the cage.
  • Cut blanks from the mesh using metal scissors. It turns out 5 segments: 4 walls, 1 roof. When calculating the dimensions, it must be borne in mind that the edges of the canvases must end with open rods (for hitching). If an angle grinder is available, it can be used to cut blades.
  • In the front part, slits are made for the door and the door itself. The edges must be even, without sharp rods and burrs.
  • Now the mesh needs to be assembled. To do this, they put them at an angle of 90 ℃ and twist the bare rods with pliers into a strong loop. In this case, the sharp edges should look outward, and not inside the future cell.
  • The next step is to make perches along the width of the mesh span. An incision is made at both ends of the crossbar, with which a perch is placed on the wire for fixing.

There are two ways to assemble a cage. Place the mesh frame on the pallet, and make notes under each rod. Drill holes, into which then insert the rods and bend them from the back. The second way is to attach the frame to the pallet using metal brackets.

A simple method to secure the door to the facade is with wire twists. They make a homemade heck or buy a ready-made one. So that the roof of the cage can be removed if necessary, it is fixed in several places with wire.

How to properly equip a home for a parrot?

Everything necessary for the bird is placed in the feathered dwelling:

  • Separate feeders for dry and juicy feed, vitamins. Dry food (grains, granules) should always be present, fruits and vegetables are placed 2-3 times a day.
  • The drinker must be automatic so that the water is not contaminated. They buy it ready-made or do it yourself.
  • Perches with a diameter of 15 mm for rest and for eating, near the feeders. The wood does not need to be polished, the roughness of the bird is needed for a strong grip.
  • There should be a lot of toys, but they should not interfere with the feathered owner of the home from moving around his apartment.
  • Bathing tank. Parrots splash with pleasure, especially in the heat. A deep metal cup is used as a pool, which is well fixed.
  • Mineral (chalk) stone. When the feathered one gnaws it, they put a new one. With a lack of calcium in the pet’s body, the beak, claws begin to exfoliate, and the joints weaken.

Sometimes parrots bring “treasures” to their home: things that they liked while walking around the apartment. This happens more often when the parrot has few toys, not enough attention is paid to it.

Tools and materials

Parrot cage net with 3 mm thick rods. It is necessary to find steel, but in no case galvanized, which has a destructive effect on the bird’s body.

  • Pallet sheet (wood, plastic, getinax, laminated moisture-resistant chipboard).
  • Bars for the base of the cage.
  • Wood for perches made of linden, birch, pear, apple, cherry. Do not conifers, lilacs and acacia, as they contain dangerous glycosides.
  • Metal scissors.
  • Hacksaw for wood.
  • Pliers.
  • Electric drill.
  • Nails (screws when it comes to plastic).

What should be a cage for a large parrot

The dimensions of the bird cage depend on how much space is planned to be allocated for the bird’s dwelling. At the same time, it should have dimensions close to the standards of 75x100x175 cm. Less. only if a large parrot has the opportunity to often fly around the room.

Very small dimensions are bad for the health of the pet. He will feel constrained, move a little, it will be uncomfortable for him to eat, to clean his feathers. It is difficult for a bird to delimit zones in a small dwelling. As a result, the parrot’s immunity will decrease. He will often get sick, eat poorly and communication skills will be at zero. It will be difficult to make friends with such a parrot and teach him to talk.

The best cage shape is rectangular with a flat roof surface. If the owner likes the round configuration, it must be borne in mind that the feathered in such a dwelling loses its bearings. He will not feel safe, as instinct forces him to hide in a corner in case of a threat.

As a material for the cage, a metal is chosen that the parrot will not gnaw. Wooden cages are not suitable for birds, as they will constantly “gnaw” at them. Wood is an environmentally friendly material, but it absorbs odors and dampness. Washing such a cage is a big problem.

Making a cage for a parrot with your own hands

The parrot is a bird of tropical origin. Distinctive features. motley plumage color, lively disposition and the ability to imitate human speech. This genus of birds is marked by a large number of subspecies.

In most regions of the world, it is used as an ornamental pet. For commercial purposes, it is bred and kept on specialized farms of an industrial and private nature.

Specific requirements are imposed on the characteristics of the feed and the conditions for keeping exotic poultry at home. A lattice cage is used as a home for a parrot and a means of isolating it from the environment. This device allows you to provide the proper conditions for a comfortable life, while maintaining the ability to communicate with the outside world, since parrots bred in captivity are extremely social.

There are various modifications of cages for a parrot, differing in the presence of certain functionalities. Some copies may cost 1,000. Along with them, budget models are supplied to the zoo market, which are available for the middle-level buyer. In addition, following the instructions, you can design a cage with your own hands, which will take into account the individual characteristics of a particular bird and save money.

A list of parts should be drawn up, consisting of groups of elements, the size parameters and the purpose of which are the same.

  • Wooden components are sawn off from the workpiece in accordance with the specified dimensions. The sawing points are sanded with sandpaper to a smooth state. Eliminates the presence of wood chips and splinters.
  • The metal mesh is cut with metal scissors in accordance with the specified dimensions. It is unacceptable to leave open cells at the edges of the mesh fabric. Cutting points of mesh links are processed with sandpaper to eliminate the likelihood of injury during assembly and harm to the parrot.

Stacking parts according to the principle of grouping makes assembly easier and reduces the time spent on it.

The assembly of the structure is carried out on a modular basis. Walls, top and bottom parts are assembled separately. Wooden slats are interconnected in accordance with the drawing instructions. In order to avoid cracking the wood in the places where the self-tapping screws are screwed in, the boring hole is drilled using a drill, the diameter of which is half the diameter of the threaded part of the self-tapping screw.

How to. Building a cheap wooden cage for cockatiels

In addition, a secret recess is drilled into which the head of the self-tapping screw sits. For this, a pen drill with a diameter equal to the diameter of the head is used. The taper drill allows for chipping-free drilling, as well as to ensure the taper of the sweat, which will ensure the quality of the self-tapping head fit in it.

The metal mesh is attached to the slat frames with finishing nails. Their advantage lies in the presence of a small head, softness of the material and the ability to control the working length. The nails are driven into the slats in such a way that, when bent, they can overlap the mesh rods at their point of contact. The frequency of driving in nails will be optimal if they are driven in through 1-2 mesh links.

The assembled components are assembled into a single structure. Perforated metal corners are used as parts that strengthen the strength of the joints, which are screwed with screws of the appropriate length.

Self-tapping screws tend to gradually unscrew as a result of the wood’s susceptibility to expansion-contraction processes, due to its reaction to temperature changes and the degree of air humidity.

How To Make A Large Bird Cage Pt.1/2

To eliminate this factor, to strengthen the strength and increase the durability of the joints, you need to dip the threaded part of each self-tapping screw into PVA glue before screwing in.

On one side of the cage, a frame should be equipped, providing for the installation of a door. It consists of two rack and pinion circuits. The outer contour is the base to which the door frame is attached.

The hinges holding the door on themselves must be outside. This can limit the bird’s ability to have access to iron parts.

The design of the cage should provide for the presence of a double bottom. The first is a metal mesh, and the second is fiberboard. When designing a cage, it is necessary to take into account the availability of access to the second bottom. This will allow regular cleaning of the cage.

The main criteria for the quality of a parrot cage. size, material and design.

The physiology of any bird is a set of biological characteristics that necessitate the absence of restrictions on freedom of movement. Some properties of their body indicate a dependence on constant physical activity. The size of the cell is calculated taking into account this fact.

Parrots are representatives of the genus of birds that are extremely sensitive to external factors. They easily succumb to diseases, it is difficult to survive molt and periods of physiological craving for reproduction. Along with this, one can note their exactingness to the materials from which the cage is made. Their environmental friendliness and safety are important.

The physical condition of the parrot directly depends on the design features of the dwelling. Some cages are supplemented to give the bird the ability to meet its energy needs and gain access to water and food. These additions include:

  • swing;
  • rotating wheels;
  • hanging hoops;
  • various toys and more.

The form and materials from which additional devices are made must also comply with environmental and safety standards.

There are various modifications of parrot cages that you can assemble with your own hands at home. Before assembly, you need to prepare the appropriate materials and tools.

Tools and materials

The list of materials directly depends on certain types of cell construction. Their differences from each other are reduced to the difference in the configuration of the case. Among the common types of cells are:

  • lattice with an all-metal body;
  • cellular all-metal;
  • lattice combined;
  • combined cell;
  • plastic, wooden.

The all-metal body is a structure assembled from a metal mesh with a square mesh or lattice sheets, connected to each other by means of spot welding or other fastening materials.

The combo version of the case combines a wooden or plastic frame that holds a lattice or mesh material on it. In this case, the mesh can be made of plastic, and the bars of the lattice can be made of wood.

The best cage design option is a combined one. Its features allow you to assemble the fixture without unnecessary material costs using a minimum set of tools.

To assemble the birdcage shown in the photo, you will need the following list of materials:

  • metal mesh with a square mesh, mesh size should not exceed 20 mm;
  • planed wooden slats, average parameters of slats 15×30 mm;
  • plywood or fiberboard up to 5 mm thick;
  • consumable metal products. self-tapping screws, finishing nails, hinges, perforated mounting angles, drills.

The mesh, which will be used as the main material for the walls of the cage, must have minimum dimensional characteristics. This will reduce the weight of the entire structure and facilitate the assembly process.

The size of the wooden battens is not fixed. As this material, you can use slats with different sizes. It is important to take into account the weight factor of the structure. The narrower and thinner the wood components, the less its final weight. It is undesirable to use unplaned wood. The presence of irregularities, splinters and wood dust can negatively affect the condition of the bird that will be kept in the cage.

For arranging the bottom of the structure, it is recommended to use fiberboard. This material has several advantages over plywood. At least one side of the fiberboard is covered with a water-repellent layer, which ensures the best possible operation in these conditions, since the bottom of the cage is the final surface on which bird droppings and other waste products of its vital activity fall.

Consumable metal products must correspond to the parameters of wooden materials. For example, self-tapping screws after screwing in should not protrude from the other side. The pitch of their thread should be selected taking into account the minimum risk of wood splitting at the moment of screwing in. The width of the fastening metal corners must match the width of the wooden battens. It is unacceptable for the corners to protrude beyond the frame perimeter.

The values of the diameters of the drills must correspond to two values: 1) the diameter of the head of the self-tapping screws, 2) the diameter of their threaded part, divided by 2.

In accordance with the names of the selected materials, a list of tools is prepared:

  • sawing devices for wood (hacksaw or jigsaw);
  • drill, screwdriver;
  • a hammer;
  • scissors for metal;
  • medium grit emery sheet;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • measuring instruments (tape measure, ruler);
  • PVA glue;
  • other related names.

Step-by-step instruction

In order to make a cage for a parrot with your own hands, detailed drawings are drawn up. They must indicate the dimensions of all constituent parts of the structure. The availability of drawings will allow preparation of parts and subsequent assembly with maximum accuracy, which will ensure acceptable product quality and its proper appearance.

Suitable place for a cell in an apartment

When considering the appearance of a good cage, you need to consider its future location. Here are the places where you should definitely not put it:

  • on the windowsill;
  • on the floor;
  • in indoor plants;
  • next to the heating radiator;
  • on the refrigerator.

The kitchen is not the best place for a parrot. There are noisy household appliances, the heat from cooking food, the sound of pouring water. Parrots will not be able to get enough sleep. In the nursery or in the bedroom, on the contrary, the owners will be deprived of a quiet rest due to bird cooing. It is optimal to place the cage in a room where family members are often during the day and no one is there at night. For example, in the living room. It is not at all necessary to be close for a long time, it is enough that the birds observe and feel people nearby.

  • the location of the house for your parrot on the floor or in front of the TV is unacceptable;
  • it is considered normal not to hang the cage from the ceiling or wall, but to place it on a horizontal surface: a bedside table, a table, a cabinet shelf;
  • you should not push the house into the far corner, but it is also undesirable to put it in the middle of the room. It is important for parrots to feel safe and secure;
  • one side of the enclosure should be directed along the wall, the other. facing the light source;
  • you need to protect parrots from direct sunlight, shading part of the grate.

Attention! The best place for a cage is an area at a height of 60 cm from the floor, 2. 3 cm from the wall, away from equipment, sockets, flowers.

How to make a parrot cage with your own hands

Making a comfortable parrot cage with your own hands is not as difficult as it seems. A new cozy house is the best gift for a budgerigar, because the bird spends in it almost all the time. A fragile bird needs reliability, protection and comfort. A homemade cage meets all safety conditions, and also allows you to save a little. From the article you will learn how to make a cage suitable for a budgerigar, how to fill it and where to place it.

Manufacturing steps

So, the materials and tools are assembled, the drawings are ready, it’s time to start assembling the structure.

  • We cut out the base from a sheet of chipboard. this is a guideline for further patterns;
  • According to the size of the bottom, we cut the side walls and the roof from the mesh;
  • We make protective boards from chipboard inside along the perimeter;
  • Having made a marking with a pencil, we drill holes with a diameter of 2 mm in a wooden base with a step of 25 mm;
  • We insert a wire mesh into the resulting punctures, all four walls;
  • We fix the adjacent walls to each other using wooden corners;
  • Install the ceiling in the same way. On the ceiling, you can make either a solid mesh or opening doors;
  • Bend the wire under the bottom and nail down a sheet of plywood to hide the sharp ends;
  • We cut out a flap door or a hole for a separately installed door in one wall (it is better to do this in advance, before assembly).

Such a set of materials and a simple algorithm allow you to make the simplest cage for a parrot with your own hands. Even a beginner can handle this kind of work.

Optimal size and shape

Even a small bird needs a lot of space, otherwise the quality of life deteriorates. The cramped structure limits mobility, while the parrot is forced to sit on the perch, instead of fluttering for pleasure. The cage should not be a place of confinement for a parrot. this is his home, so before construction you need to think over all the little things.

One of the main parameters of a budgerigar cage is size. The size should correspond to the number of residents and their height:

  • for a chick just separated from its parents, a small temporary house is enough: length and width 25 cm each, height 40 cm;
  • an adult needs a more spacious cage: from 40 cm in length and width, from 50 cm in height;
  • two parrots are quite freely placed in a half-meter product 60 cm high, and with each subsequent bird the sizes should increase proportionally.

The larger the cage, the better for the wards, but problematic for the owner: the cleaning area increases, the useful volume of the room decreases.

The preferred house shape for a new pet is rectangular with horizontal and vertical rods. The angular design serves as a safe haven for the parrot. The shy wavy can hide in a secluded corner, away from prying eyes. Tall round cages with a domed top are designed for accustomed parrots and small groups.

Note: Products of bizarre shapes look attractive, but they are not very convenient for cleaning.

Manufacturing instruction

So how do you make a cage for a small parrot with your own hands? Initially, you need to think about the design, calculate the preliminary dimensions and draw a sketch. Then you should draw the drawings. Having a clear idea of the future structure, you can get to work.

Tools and materials

To make a cage at home, you will need:

  • wire mesh with cells 10 x 25 mm;
  • plywood or chipboard sheet (part of old furniture will do);
  • metallic profile;
  • self-tapping screws, small nails;
  • scissors for metal;
  • hacksaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • a hammer.

An important point: Parrots love to taste everything around. Make sure materials are safe.

Recommended cell sizes

So, the smallest of pets (wavy or blue-headed parrots) require keeping in a cage, the width of which will be at least sixty centimeters. Medium-sized parrots and Amazons should be housed in houses (cages) that are at least 80 centimeters wide. But the cages for the largest species of these birds differ in that their width is not less than 1 meter. A homemade cage differs from factory options in that during manufacturing you can make it exactly the size that you need.

Another feature of bird cages: their width should be greater than their height. This is due to the fact that the birds, although they can fly, still move in a horizontal plane, just like you and me.

Determine the shape and size of the cell

The size and shape of the cage depends directly on the type of bird. The budgerigar cage and the larger species, such as the cockatoo, may not be the same size and shape. That is why the wrong choice will negatively affect your pet’s behavior. Here are a number of recommendations, the implementation of which will allow you to give your parrot a decent existence without any problems.

Types of bird cages

First of all, let’s pay attention to the location of the cell. It depends on how your pet will feel, whether he will be comfortable, whether he will feel that he is safe. When making a cage with your own hands, exclude floor options, since by their nature any birds, including parrots, never nest on the ground. If you want to make exactly the floor version, try to make it in such a way that the bottom of the cage is at a height of at least 40 cm from the floor.

Here are a number of factors to look out for when choosing a ready-made cage or creating one yourself:

Parrot cage requirements

No matter how spacious the cage you have purchased, the parrot will still not get enough freedom of movement. You can add comfort to the place of detention by providing your pet with the ability to constantly change its location and move more. This requires a properly equipped cage. With your own hands for a parrot, you can create a real paradise. The main thing is not to skimp on materials and their quality.

In addition to being large, the cage should also be equipped with numerous perches and platforms on which your parrot can sit, play, spread its wings and jump from place to place. An important point: if you notice that your pet spends almost all the time sitting at the bottom of the cage, then perhaps he does not have enough room to move. In this case, you need to replace the house with a more spacious version.

I’ll parrot the cage with my own hands. Crafting tips

As noted above, first of all, it is necessary to determine the shape and size of the future cell, after which you can proceed to creating a sketch. It should be detailed enough to reflect all the dimensions you want.

Below is an approximate list of the main elements that make up a standard cage. You can make any house for a parrot with your own hands: from the smallest cage to a spacious aviary. All variants have the following components in their design:

  • Pallet. For it, you can use a ready-made box or make it from fiberboard and slats. In this case, you should pay attention to the height of the sides, they should not be very low.
  • Frame (it is a mesh, bent in the desired shape and high-quality fixed to the frame).
  • Roof.

Required materials and work procedure

Everything you need to make your own cage. these are wire, corners, metal profiles, screws and nails. When choosing materials for the cage, it is necessary to give preference to environmentally friendly ones that cannot harm the life and health of your beloved pet.

The beginning of the process of making a cage provides for the moment of preparing the framework. Making them is quite simple, all you need to pay attention to. this is their high strength. Each of the frames consists of four separate elements (blanks).

The next step involves creating the side pieces using a metal profile. That part of the side walls that is longitudinal in nature should be bent at an angle of 90 degrees and fastened to the lower and upper parts. Parts of the frame are attached with self-tapping screws. Since you know the dimensions of the frames, in accordance with them, the required amount of mesh is cut off, which must be adjusted along the edge of the profile. After marking the intersections of the wire and the frame, you need to drill the holes. They must correspond to the diametrical size of the wire from which the mesh is made.

Do not forget to equip the finished cage with special hooks, which are needed in order to fasten various accessories (perches, feeder, drinker, etc.).

As for the cleanliness and care of the parrot, the pull-out tray is very convenient in this regard. It will not be difficult to make one. For it you will need a frame made of a profile and a sheet of galvanized metal. By connecting them, you get a pull-out tray.

The cage door also requires special attention. The easiest way to arrange it is to cut a hole in the mesh. But at the same time, you should pay attention to its size (not very large) and location (closing from top to bottom).

That’s all! A do-it-yourself cage made and equipped for a parrot or other bird is ready. You can introduce your pet to a new apartment.

What are the cells

At the moment, there is a huge selection of different cells that differ from each other according to different criteria. The purchase must be approached very carefully, since not only the mood of the bird, but also the duration of its life depends on its correct organization. It is also very important not to forget about the stand.

First of all, you should start with the shape of the cage for parrots, since this is one of the determining factors. First of all, they can be round and rectangular. Then the question concerns the roof: it can be straight or fancy.

Experts do not recommend purchasing round cages, since in this case the parrot in the cage will not feel safe. If you do not want the bird to get lost in space, then such cages should be avoided.

Professionals also strongly advise against stopping their choice on cages, the roof of which has an unusual shape. Of course, unless you want to spend all your free time cleaning your feathered friend’s aviary. Intricate designs require a lot of effort in the cleaning process. In addition, it is not always easy for them to find the right stand.

The best option is a rectangular parrot enclosure with a flat roof. Often, the bird’s main hobby is limited to flying from one perch to another. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right cage size and support for large parrots.

It is very important that even for a large parrot it is convenient to spread its wings and make movements with them. Take the Budgerigar as an example, since they are the most frequent guests at home. For such a bird, the minimum cage size (taking into account the free arrangement of two perches at a decent distance from each other) should be at least 40 centimeters in length, 25 in width and 30 in height.

Another very important criterion is the material from which the cage is made. Indeed, in the course of its life, a large or small parrot can indulge in a variety of entertainments. One of the favorite among feathered friends is the “war” with the rods of the cage, which they constantly bite and gnaw.

So that the bird’s health is not in danger, this moment needs to be thought out in advance. At the moment, aviaries from a variety of materials are presented on the market: from all-metal and wooden to plastic and combined. In no case do you need to purchase copper or galvanized enclosures, since these materials are extremely dangerous for parrots, but stainless steel is a very good choice.

Step-by-step instruction

  • We cut out a 60 x 25 cm rectangle from plywood or fiberboard with our own hands and fill wooden slats along its edges, forming sides. this will be the bottom for the aviary and a kind of stand for the cage.
  • We cut the metal profile into blanks. For each long wall we will make 2 segments of 60 cm and 2 of 35 cm.For each short wall. 2 of 25 cm and 2 of 35 cm.For the roof. 2 of 60 cm and 2 of 25 cm.
  • Then, with our own hands, we cut off the side of the metal profile and bend the longitudinal part at an angle of 90 degrees. It is to it that we will subsequently attach the lower and upper parts.
  • In accordance with the size of the frames, we measure the required amount of the grid. There should be no gaps between it and the profile.
  • We apply a grid to the frames made, mark the places where they intersect.
  • We take a drill and make holes in the place of the marks. It is very important that the diameter of the holes is the same as that of the mesh wire.
  • We arm ourselves with pliers and look for those ends of the wire that stick out disobediently. They should be eliminated by bending them inward. It is through this action that you can make the cell rigid. The end result is five frames: 2 side frames, 1 front, 1 back and 1 top.
  • We fasten the frame with our own hands using corners and screws.
  • Cut a hole for the door in the front wall. In accordance with its dimensions, we make a frame from the slats and stretch the cut out piece of the mesh onto it. Loops and clasps can be made of copper wire. This is how you can easily make a cage with your own hands. It remains to arrange perches, dishes and a mirror in it. If you wish, you can make a stand.

Where to put the cage

It is very important to position the cell at the level of human height. In this sense, a special stand helps a lot. In this case, you should choose the bright part of the room, however, think over everything in such a way that the bird does not end up in a draft. It is logical: the stand must be positioned in such a way that the bird constantly sees you.

Our parrots constantly need sunshine as it improves bird health. You need to take care of your pets and leave one corner darkened in case of a hot sun. Under no circumstances should the stand be placed where the heating devices are located, or it should be placed almost on the ceiling itself. It is also forbidden to leave your feathered friend to live in the kitchen, since the aromas will not do him good.

A mirror is far from an indispensable element in a parrot’s cage. It is believed that if a mirror appears in the aviary, the bird will never be able to speak. This phenomenon can be explained by the fact that the bird is so carried away by its “rivals” that it ceases to be interested in anything.

However, the presence of a mirror makes both large and small parrots less lonely. If you are not afraid that the bird will concentrate all its attention on its reflection, then buy a mirror and do not hesitate. Perhaps it is the mirror that will make the feathered happy.

Perches are a very important element in a well-made cage. The thing is that the bird spends almost all its time on them. This means that these seemingly insignificant elements determine the state of the parrot’s legs. Make sure the perches are large enough.

It is very important that the perches are of different sizes. They are installed relative to each other in such a way that nothing prevents a large parrot from flapping its wings when it jumps from one perch to another. In addition, when turning, the feathered friend should not touch the rods.
